There are many organisations and resources available for island communities to build their skills and capacity for driving their own energy transition. This section contains useful links and resources related to capacity-building.
The EU Islands Secretariat offers capacity-building support to island communities through workshops, webinars and guidance documents. The training materials are available in the Secretariat’s library and webinars page. For further capacity-building opportunities, please contact the Secretariat Helpdesk.
NESOI is a Horizon2020 project aiming to financially support the development of 60 clean energy projects on EU islands by 2023. The project finances technical assistance (not project implementation) to local authorities, with up to 60 000 EUR per grant. It further provides capacity-building and fund matching support.
Expert organisations & Peer-to-Peer exchange
The EU Islands Secretariat’s online community brings together a large number of expert organisations from a broad range of EU countries. All these organisations have specific expertise on supporting islands on their way to decarbonising their energy systems. You can directly contact these experts and peer islands through the online community, and access their capacity-building materials there.
