Culatra, one of the six pilot islands which aim to become a lighthouse of the energy transition among the EU islands, is hosting the EU Islands Secretariat's next workshop. In cooperation with Culatra's transition team - including representatives of Algarve University and the NGO Make it better, the Secretariat is organizing a 2 days workshop covering relevant topics such as electricity generation, storage and distribution, maritime transport, water supply and treatment, waste management and energy efficiency.
The first day is planned for 13 February in Faro, where all important stakeholders from different levels of authorities will participate together with local citizens, representatives of University and different companies. On 14 February, all participants will undertake a field visit to Culatra island and participate in the workshop with local citizens. The second day will end up with a signing ceremony, where all interested parties will be able to sign the pledge and commit themselves to work together with the aim of achieving the goals planned in the strategy document.
