Clean energy for EU islands

Pledge

Islands that are committed to clean energy transition and have signed the Island Clean Energy Transition Pledge

San Pietro

The Island of San Pietro is located in the southwest of Sardinia, and about 5,950 inhabitants live on 51 square kilometres, characterised by pristine beaches and breathtaking scenery. In August 2019, up to 50,000 tourists reached this ‘paradise’. A relevant economic part rests on the sustainable fishing of bluefin tuna, unique for its culinary and healthy properties. On the island, the tuna is also processed and prepared for shipments around the world.

Texel

The island of Texel is located north of the Dutch part of the Waddensee and part of the North Holland province.

Lampedusa

Lampedusa is one of the Italian Pelagie Islands in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Comune di Lampedusa e Linosa (municipality) in cooperation with Politecnico di Torino applied to the second round of the Clean energy for EU islands technical assistance in March 2022 to receive financial support on a project that is currently at the concept status: RE24S project, in Lampedusa.
